Ever feel as though you’re forcing against the tide in your business?

Whether you’re at a networking event without an ounce of juice to connect with others (and secretly wishing you could just hide in the corner with headphones on), or the creativity you had last week has completely evaporated, or your brain refuses to focus on one single task—here’s the truth: there isn’t anything wrong with you. You’re not broken.

Your energy is speaking to you.

We’ve simply been conditioned to ignore it, especially as women and especially in the business world. We’ve been taught to push, produce, and power through even when every cell in our body is whispering, “Rest, please.”

Step one: take a breath and give yourself grace.

Our culture worships the hustle. Performance. Output. Endless “doing.” But here’s the reality: that’s not how humans, particularly women, are designed to operate. We’re cyclical beings, and our energy naturally ebbs and flows. Fighting that rhythm is like trying to paddle upstream against a raging current. You’ll burn out long before you reach shore.

It’s time to step into the era of honoring our energy.

Working with Your Cycle (For Those Who Menstruate)

Your menstrual cycle is like an internal roadmap for productivity, creativity, and rest. When you align your work with your natural hormonal phases, you’ll often find more ease, focus, and flow. Here’s a simple breakdown:

  1. Menstrual Phase (Inner Winter): Energy is lowest. Prioritize rest, reflection, big-picture planning, and behind-the-scenes tasks.

  2. Follicular Phase (Inner Spring): Creativity blooms. This is the time for brainstorming, content creation, and starting new projects.

  3. Ovulatory Phase (Inner Summer): Energy peaks. Lean into visibility—networking, sales calls, presentations, launches.

  4. Luteal Phase (Inner Autumn): Focus on detail-oriented tasks, systems, and wrapping up loose ends.

No Cycle? You Still Have a Rhythm

Not every woman has a menstrual cycle, whether due to menopause, birth control, medical reasons, or personal choice. That doesn’t mean you can’t harness cyclical energy. You can:

  • Work with the moon phases: New Moon for visioning, First Quarter for action, Full Moon for visibility, Last Quarter for review/release.

  • Track your personal energy peaks:  Notice when you naturally feel most creative, social, or analytical during the month, and schedule tasks accordingly.

  • Use the Biz Flow Guide: This tool helps you map your monthly tasks to your energy levels so you’re working with yourself instead of against yourself. (link below)

It’s not about doing less, it’s about doing the right things at the right time.

When you honor your energy, whether guided by your cycle, the moon, or your own intuitive rhythm—you stop fighting yourself. You begin to work in harmony with your natural flow. Productivity doesn’t have to mean pushing past your limits.

The more we embrace the truth that rest is part of the process, the more our business (and life) will reflect the ease, creativity, and success we’ve been chasing all along.
